a prestigious property 3,471 metres above sea level
Ganter has realised a prestigious property of a very special kind, 3,471 metres above sea level on the Jungfraujoch: the Schoggi museum and its 90 m² foyer were built for Swiss chocolatiers Lindt & Sprüngli (by order of Habegger AG) – and that in a record-breaking four weeks. The daily delivery of building materials and the team’s journey to the highest construction site in Europe were made by rack railway, which left for the Jungfraujoch at 4.30 a.m. The railway could not be used after 9.00 a.m. as it was reserved for tourists. Once at the top, the technicians had to carry all of the fittings up two floors – a task made even harder by the lack of air, which at that height contains 30% less oxygen. A large number of technicians were working on the small construction site at the same time, which meant that strict organisation of the project was the most important requirement for successful completion of this task. The museum itself is in the style of an old factory. The synergy of real clinker brick walls, decorative antique-style furniture and cutting-edge projection technology creates a solid atmosphere that captivates visitors. Up to 5,000 visitors a day are expected during busy periods.
