The Mercedes Benz branch in Frankfurt/Offenbach, Germany no longer resembles an ordinary car dealership. Ganter designed a showroom for the automotive giant in which no customer wish goes unfulfilled. The branch is now one of the largest and most modern car dealerships in Europe while staying true to the region it calls home. Its glass-clad showroom is ideal for displaying new cars: with a ceiling height of 12 whole metres and two gallery levels, there is enough space to put around 40 vehicles on display. The cars catch customers’ eyes at a dizzying height atop prominent platforms and they glimmer in the light cast by the illuminated ceiling installed by Ganter, which spreads light perfectly across all surfaces and corners in the room. This elaborate ceiling design with its integrated lighting concept presented as unique a challenge as the construction of balconies and mobile parapets at great heights. While working on this project, Ganter was able to answer each and every question regarding statics, room installations and safety within a short time frame, demonstrating not only its planning competence, but also its creativity and flexibility.
